Things to do when we are not hiking...

Each guest on our Switzerland hiking trips receives an individual Swiss Rail Pass which allows unlimited travel on Swiss public trains, buses and boats. The Pass is also valid for discounts on gondolas, cable cars and even admission to museums. For guests who will be in Switzerland before or after their time with us, we can extend the duration of the Pass at a greatly reduced price compared to the purchase of a new Swiss Pass on your own.

In Austria, guests receive local travel cards that allow travel without charge on local trains, buses and cable cars.

Each week of a tour has a scheduled “free-day” when we do not hike. Free days provide you with the opportunity to use your Swiss Rail Pass or Austrian Travel Card to explore on your own. Two village tours (12 nights) have two free-days and one village tours (6 nights) have one free-day.  

Switzerland and Austria both have wonderful public transportation systems. Trains, buses, cable cars, and boats make it easy and convenient to travel and see areas we do not visit as a group. Your guides are glad to help before your trip and during your trip with planning free day activities.  Before departure you will receive a list of places to visit and things to do that previous hikers have enjoyed.
