Austria Photo Tour Page (scroll down for pictures) In addition to our Switzerland adventure travel tours we offer two wonderful hiking vacations to the Tyrolean Alps. In Austria, we hike and walk from the hamlet of Ginzling in the Zemmgrund Valley and from the village of Neustift in the Stubai Valley. Ginzling, Austria The village of Ginzling is located beneath the high mountains of “Ruhegebeit Zillertaler Hauptkamm”, which has been a conservation area since 1991. The title “National Nature Park” was awarded in 2001. The Zillertal Nature Park is at the southern end of the Ziller Valley. At the northern end of the valley is the town of Jenbach which is only and hour and a half by train from Salzburg going east. Hiking the Zillertal National Park you will see jagged snow capped peaks with hanging and flowing glaciers, U-shape glacier carved green valleys, flowing rivers and mountain huts that make the Swiss jealous. For the villages of Ginzling itself it is closer to a hamlet than a village. There are no tourist shops or souvenir stands or crowded streets...cows are still grazed in an apple orchard next to the small church in the center of the village. Going to Ginzling is like going back in time 100 years to a place of tranquility and peace. Neustift, Austria The village of Neustift in the Stubai Valley is only 40 minutes by bus from Innsbruck. The hiking in this corner of the Alps is simply spectacular. The mountains are grand with snow capped peaks and hanging glaciers towering over lush green U-shaped valleys. And the waterfalls are truly fantastic. Hikes in this part of the Tyrolean Alps are numerous which provides incredible hiking for all levels of hikers. When former hiking guests ask what the mountains are like around Ginzling and Neustift I tell them to imagine the jagged peaks around Zermatt and Saas-Fee combined with the lush green color and U-Shaped valleys of the Berner Oberland.
